Someone asked about the image of someone walking and what that signified on the header. It’s really about taking that first step toward a relationship with God. There are a lot of religious “posers” who want to sound righteous and religious but they are not. They can quote the Bible and say things that sound religious for an audience of other posers. Real spirituality is knowing that each step we take requires the God of the past, present, and future to lead us on down God’s path. Like Abraham we don’t always know where we are going. We will sometimes mess up and lose our way. But we keep walking and trusting.
In Genesis 12 God speaks to Abraham: Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. God doesn’t say where, doesn’t say how to get there, doesn’t describe the dangers, doesn’t give a moral compass to follow – just, “Go.”
Take a step. One step. One foot in front of another. Walk by faith not by sight like Paul would later write in 2 Corinthians 5:7. Leave the posing and religiosity behind and follow the Son. Now, God made flesh, invites us to follow a new path and person. Not without direction but with faith grounded in a real person. A relationship not a set of rules. Take the step – begin the journey – or stay on the path.
