Spiritual Coaching Vol 1 #20 Journey…

There are a lot of people traveling this week. Planes, trains, and automobiles will take people to family homes and beyond. People will pack up – load up – fill up and go. You have heard it said that life itself is a journey more than a destination. Greg Anderson, author and founder of the “Wellness Project,” once wrote, “Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.”

Where will your travels take you? Maybe your journey will take you to new learnings or maybe making an effort to meet some new people that will enrich your life. Maybe you’ll clean out a closet stuffed with clothes you never wear and give them away to people who have none. It could even lead you to where your spirit is refreshed and you commune with God. Jesus invitation to ordinary people was always, “follow me.” It was an invitation, not merely to a physical trek, but a spiritual journey. Where does God invite you today?

Christmas is a season. Resist the urge to take the tree down and pack up all the decorations. Twelve days of Christmas are on the calendar so we will journey toward knowing the Christ Child more. Christmas is more than a glancing blow across the Holy. It is a journey toward a deeper and more meaningful spiritual life of being born again and being made Holy. Holiness is not a state of being as much as belonging to the Eternal One. We are made for a journey.
