Spiritual Coaching Vol 2 #20 Words…

Words are powerful things. Did you write yesterday? I know some of you did – I heard from you. Good for you. In order to do so you used words. Sometimes words flow easily and other times it is more difficult to find them. It is THE WORD that becomes the source of all words. “In the beginning was the Word,” John wrote. The creative Word – a Word of elegance and beauty – a Word of inventiveness out of nothingness. We do not create as much as we reinvent or mine words from the pre-existing mine of THE WORD, which came first. There is a resourcefulness in that. We don’t have to worry about inventing something new, or being the writer of the “Great American Novel,” or have a polished eloquence. A “wordsmith” is just a miner – a hard scrabble worker.

In Matthew 8:8 a centurion came to Jesus of Nazareth seeking his help – not for himself but for his servant who was very sick. “The centurion replied, ‘Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.'” Just say the Word. In some sense the centurion knew that Jesus was THE WORD. The creator of words was also the healer of the body and soul. Not all healing is physical either. Do you need spiritual healing? Soul healing? Just hear the Word spoken,  “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10. Once heard and received you can become a healer too. With the Word you speak to others you can heal, restore, and love. So go mine for words from THE WORD today but don’t keep them to yourself. Share them with others.
