Spiritual Coaching Vol 2 #30 Crazy…

In 1997 there was a quote attributed to Steve Jobs that goes,  “Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” Crazy as it applies to thinking different does change things. Crazy should never be thought of a diagnostic term but it is. Even Jesus was thought to have been “beside himself” by his family. In the Gospel of Mark chapter 3 this is written, 20 Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. 21When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is (beside himself) out of his mind.” 22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.”

When you begin to think of others, or ideas that will benefit others, before you think of yourself or your own interests people will think you are crazy. People are naturally selfish and their selfish desires tend to drive them. It is when we begin to think of others that we begin to seem odd and out of place. People will even twist it to say you are selfish. That’s because you are disrupting the status quo. You can make a difference in the world. If you believe that you can and are making a difference – the world will not only think you are crazy – it will treat you like you are. Fear not, you are in good company. Go and make a difference.

Be Well.
