Spiritual Coaching vol 2 #58 Time….

Time is the only investment we can never get back – so use it well. I usually write early in the morning when the day seems fresh and new and before my mind and schedule gets out of control. Events and people begin to crowd the time that I dedicate to work and the demands of others on my time. Work is great and I am thankful for it but time is so precious that how I invest that time becomes vital to understanding my life. People may say that time flies when they are involved and happy and they just lose track of the clock. What I hate is when people say they are killing time. How do you view time? Is it precious or just another commodity to use up?

Ecclesiastes 3

1 There is a time for everything,  and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, 6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,  8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

The great basketball coach, John Wooden said, “If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?” Don’t use your time to bicker and fight today. Use it wisely to build bridges and encourage people around you. Stand up for yourself but do it with dignity and strength and not anger and animosity. Spend your time on things that will outlast you. Learn and grow today. Read, write a real letter, phone a relative or friend you haven’t talked to in a long time. Do something fun for you, take some time for prayer and contemplation, and be aware of the precious quality of time. Don’t let everything be dominated by the clock but instead let time be a mentor – a teacher.

Be Well
