Spiritual Coaching Vol 2 #59 Media…

Media…

What media do you rely on? It used to be the morning newspaper on the front porch or door stoop that brought the news. Now half-baked morning TV news comes through shows like Bad Morning America and the Yesterday Show. They have become tabloid fodder for most people. Jesus once said in Matthew 15, “Pay attention and try to understand what I mean.11The food that you put into your mouth doesn’t make you unclean and unfit to worship God. The bad words that come out of your mouth are what make you unclean.” This applies to what we watch and read too as much as it applies to the food we eat. If our heart and mind are changed – renewed – and reconfigured spiritually what comes out of us is different. We wont need the media spin to guide us – we will have the Spirit to guide us. The media for the most part pokes fun at people of faith. They have formed the opinion that truth is purely subjective, as is moral ethical foundation. The intellectual superiority drips from the lips of most commentators and pundits who seem to love to hear themselves bloviate. Our Creator has made us for better things than to passively allow the media to influence our thoughts and actions. Be skeptical – be very skeptical of the messages conveyed. Turn the media off sometimes and listen to the Spirit, read, get different viewpoints, meditate on Scripture, connect with other believers in a community of faith, and discuss issues. People who only argue and are combative do not want discourse they want to dictate opinion.

Media…

The purpose of Spiritual Coaching is to remind you every day to connect with the Spirit which refreshes, energizes, guides, and assists you in all truth. There is a Truth beyond politics, entertainment, and news. It is a Truth that can be a life-long adventure that crosses borders, nationalities, religious beliefs, and age groups. It is Truth that is also Good News for all humanity. Timothy Leary was famous for the counterculture phrase, “Turn on, tune in, drop out.” I say to you, “Tune in (to the Spirit of life and truth), drop out (of the media making up your mind for you), and turn on (to the Spirit guiding you every day). One other thought – Pass On this information to others if you find it helpful.

Be Well…
