Spiritual Coaching Vol 2 #77 Wind…

Wind…

The trees waved back and forth like a field of wheat today with gusts up to 45 mph. Seed pods and new leaves flew through the air and I leaned into it as I walked down the lane. “The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (Jesus, John 3) The wind like a messenger of change reminded me of how flexible we need to be – how we need to adapt to new and changing times. Spiritual Coaching is a way of finding that voice that is given to you as a gift; not just to guide you but give voice to the inner yearnings, direction, and purpose that long to be expressed. In John 3 Nicodemus expressed to Jesus that he wanted to understand this – “How can these things be?” Ask, pursue, search, question, and be open. Like the gusts of this afternoon which began with the movement of a butterfly wing in Palau, so your dream can begin small and grow into a tsunami of brilliant possibilities. Jimmy Dean, who you wouldn’t expect to say something as profound as, “I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination,” reminds me that everyone has the capacity to be a profound influence when they think big thoughts and dream big dreams. We may not achieve all that we dream but, oh, how fun to dream them – how lavish life becomes when we think larger than people expect. Be bold – dream big.
