Spiritual Coaching Vol 2 #86 Rain…

Waking up to a roll of thunder this morning an old Carpenters song popped into my mind “Rainy Days and Mondays.” The rain was both soothing and foreboding. Why do you suppose so many people are drawn to places like Arizona, California, and Florida? Light. Darkness and rain can be depressing but we need it. In the middle east where little rain falls it is precious and welcomed. Jesus once said, “(God) causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” (Matthew 5:45). Rain can be a reminder. It can remind us of the luxurious grace of God. It falls upon all people – believes and unbelievers. How gracious is that – to act with righteousness towards all people regardless of what they think of you or even if they think of you? So much of life is influenced by our attitude and how we filter what others say to us. G.K. Chesterton once said, “And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow.” How will you approach your day and your week? Consider the rain of life to be like the grace of God and the sun of your week to be the shower of God’s warmth. God’s grace is not just for the saints. It is for you – revel in it – pull a Gene Kelly and dance around a lamp post. Tell me – how do you revel in God’s grace?

Be Well.
