Spiritual Coaching Vol 2 #99 Writer…

Writing every day can be a challenge. I thought about what I was going to write this morning last evening and as soon as I woke up this morning and there didn’t seem to be a single path I wanted to go down. It is always a struggle to know how personal I should make the writing and how unique my writing is – everyone can blog – but not every blog is worth reading. It is fun to surf around and read what other bloggers are writing – there are some very creative folks out there – it’s humbling. Reading what other create has been fun and at times inspires me to hang in there and work on my own creativity. There was a great quote from Ernest Hemingway I ran across, he said, “I learned never to empty the well of my writing, but always to stop when there was still something there in the deep part of the well, and let it refill at night from the springs that fed it.” Beautiful. Often the problem is actually taking the time to think and draw from that deep well. The pace of life leads us to think that there are such important things to do and so many things to accomplish – writing can seem so frivolous.

Habakkuk 2:2 says, “Write the vision. Make it clear on tablets so that anyone can read it quickly.” God’s vision for your life is what really matters – you are unique and important – and I want to point that out most of all. Never give up looking to your Creator for the inspiration of your life. The hard work of thinking and writing is worth it for me because it drives me to do things that are healthy for my life – to read, to meditate, to think, and to share. I’m no genius but writing is somewhat like what Thomas Edison said, “Genius (writing) is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.” It’s making the effort – being guided by your Creator – and then finding just the right idea. This is true of any work, any effort, and field of endeavor. Give your all – put yourself out there – perspire – and just offer that and the reward will be found in the giving away.

Be Well…
