In the early hours this morning there were rolls of thunder. The kind that just rumble through your waking consciousness – gentle rumbles that nearly rock you awake. “And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power?” Job 26:14 Surely we can understand the science of thunder but who can understand the thunder of God’s power in our life. That power is made available to you. You may not think you have power because it is not like worldly power. Worldly power is often the power to oppress, crush, destroy, and hate. The power of God is to unleash the human spirit to do such good that the world stands in amazement. You the power this day for your spirit to communicate with the Spirit of the Creator – to listen – to dream – to imagine – to accomplish so much good when you draw from that power source. As mighty as the thunder sounds, you are given more power to accomplish good this day. Sometimes little things that become first a ripple, then a wave, and then a tidal wave of good. Your creator multiplies the good. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.” Let the thunder roll folks – do good – seek truth – overcome.
