There is a great video clip at History.com about an open Bible at “Ground Zero.” It speaks to the power of the world vis-a-vis the power of God’s Word. Worth watching.
1 Corinthians 3:19 puts it this way, “The wisdom of this world is foolish to God.” Parent over child, husband over wife, employer over employee, politician over the represented – the list could go on about how power could be abused. It all boils down to, “I will get what I want even if I have to take it from you.” God says that the economy of the “Kingdom” is different. The one with power – serves. In the midst of a world in upheaval and a government that seems in disarray putting into practice Kingdom principals is even more critical.
What if we asked each other, “How can I serve you?” It would change the dynamic of lots of relationships. Rather than fearing losing power – power may shift in new ways and relationships. In one hundred years will it matter what your title is? On the other hand will it matter Who’s you are? World history tells us that kingdoms but we are citizens of God’s Kingdom and that changes literally everything.
