You would think one of the most popular words in the English language would be “Free.” I mean, who doesn’t like free stuff? In actuality the word “New” is a better marketing word. Out with the old – in with the new – that is our culture. As people dream of mega-millions with the lottery this week – all kinds of Americans are thinking of what new things they will be able to buy or what bills they will pay off. Black Friday will give way to their own In The Black Forever day. As one commentator opined, “We make money the old fashioned way, we play the lottery.”
It would seem that you would need to play the lottery in order to win. Thus, it is unlikely that I will participate in the winnings. It’s more likely that I will have a UFO land in my back yard. So it seems that I will pass and keep working and struggling like most of you. Tony Robbins, a famous life coach, once said, “I’ve come to believe that all my past failure and frustration were actually laying the foundation for the understandings that have created the new level of living I now enjoy.” Our ideas and hard work are far more valuable than the four dollars you might spend on the lottery. Use your mind. Apply your thoughts. Let your experiences teach you. Wealth is not found in money but in the quality of the time you have in this life. But if you win the lottery… oh, never mind.
