Spiritual Coaching Vol 2 #218 Shop… http://www.dennymeyer.me
Don’t take this the wrong way – but go shop. I have to give a big shout out to my church family who is part of a network of teachers and school counselors who, throughout the year, receive names of children (and sometimes their family) who have needs. People will take the names that are collected and purchase clothing items like hats, coats, socks, pants, sweatshirts, boots, and other items. These people have been so incredibly generous. We have helped so many children this Christmas season, too. We don’t get the publicity about what we do and we don’t get any government money. This is a simply great and godly way to get your shopping and bargain hunting fix and help children and their families. Visit http://www.bethanylaporte.org to find out more about what we are doing.
I really don’t want anything for me this year. What I want to do is help kids who’s biggest wish is to have clean underwear or their first pair of jeans. Among the food stamp and free lunch programs there are those who fall through the cracks. There are people who’s pride does not allow them to depend on these programs to take care of them but instead struggle to get out of their financial dilemma and someday help others. Not all charities are alike. In your giving this Christmas, and I hope you will give to the truly needy, be aware of who is doing a good job of helping the poor, the marginalized, and the outcast. I believe that God will put opportunities in your path. Keep your eyes open and keep your ears tuned in to the messages that your Creator sends you. They may come as a whisper or a small nudge so be alert. As Jesus said in Matthew 11:15, “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!”
Be Well and Merry Christmas
