Spiritual Coaching Vol 3 #37 When is my weekend?

Spiritual Coaching Vol 3 #37   When is my weekend?

I’ve never been sure when my weekend occurs. Having worked every weekend since 1976 it is a little strange to talk about the weekend as though it is some mysterious vaunted time and space where one recovers or carries on leisure activities. Farmers, swing shift workers, health care workers, and safety workers all know what I’m talking about. If you get a weekend BE THANKFUL. There are many of us out there who don’t so you can take advantage of some personal time.

What you don’t want to do is take the weekend off from worship, prayer, and praise. As Psalm 96 says:

Sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, praise his name;
proclaim his salvation day after day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

Worship is restorative. It is even more helpful than recreation because God does something for your spirit in worship. So build it in to your weekend or week. TGITW – thank God it’s the weekend. Please pray for all the folks who are recovering from the storms that have rolled across the country too. It has already been a rough spring for many people.

Be Well…
