Two more stressbusters for you today….
The first is one that is insidious. It sneaks into our conversations but brings us down and stresses us out unwittingly. Stop talking negatively. The more negative our thoughts and conversation the more stressed we become. A lot of research indicates that happiness is a choice we make. There may be circumstances that cause great unhappiness in our life but we can often turn it around when we stop focusing on the negative conversations we have.
Take the news for instance – please take it. Most of the reporting is negative and now it is so easy to consume with television and the internet. Beware of consuming negativity.
Second, go ahead and scream at a sports game. Get some aggression out by yelling. Not at the refs or other fans or the players – just yell and scream for your team. Release some of that pent up emotion and negative energy by having a good yell. With Friday night football games coming up you have a perfect venue to get out there and let loose. Get rid of some stress in a good old fashioned scream. Just don’t get in trouble with the fans in front of you by yelling for the other team.
The great coach Rick Pitino once said, “I just don’t deal with the negativity. I can’t get involved in that side of it. I don’t understand it, and you can’t let it take away from your life and what you are trying to do.” A good insight for becoming a “stressbuster” – join that club with me.
