It was sad to hear about Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death from an apparent drug overdose yesterday. My life theme is about “sharing the Good News with as many people as I can for as long as I can.” Yet, in the mix of life there is bad news. Yesterday’s news about Phil, as his family and friends knew him, is a story gone distressingly wrong. A brilliant actor with three children. Sober for years but relapsing last year. It just takes one time – one overdose and death. It is tragically something that happens all too often and every day around America. It happens in small towns and big cities. Part of our life theme is to do something that “saves lives.”
I believe we are uniquely created by God to live not only for ourselves but for other people. Will you help me to create a better theme for people who’s story is going tragically wrong? We can create a better story for people battling addiction and save a life by helping to bring “Frontline Foundations” to LaPorte. Here is there web address:
We will need a location, we will need money, and we will need volunteers but we will save lives. Think about it, pray about it, and if your theme is not about this make it about something bigger than yourself. Live well and do good work. Your journey is unique and compelling when it is not about simply achieving personal goals. When you live to make a difference and save a life you change the world. There may not even be many people that notice – but God does and heaven rejoices.
“I tell you that it is the same in Heaven—there is more joy over one sinner whose heart is changed than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need for repentance.” (Jesus) Luke 15:7
