Guided Spiritual Life Coaching
During the first week of our spiritual life coaching journey we are going to clear our heads of the mental cobwebs that keep us from seeing the world God created with wonder and awe. Children experience life with a sense of wonderment and excitement. It’s like the amazement of a firefly or a bird drifting on a thermal during the summer. As adults we see things far too often in terms of organization, judgments, activity, rules, and responsibilities. That is not what this week is about.
What will we do? Read some poems, or an inspirational book, look up inspiring quotes of some of the great figures you admire, play some inspirational music and then get outside. Take a walk or take a bike ride every day. Lay on your back and watch the clouds – breathe deeply and skip for a few minutes.
During the week you will assess your life and pray about your journey to this point. Remember your daily affirmation and remind yourself of you personal CORE beliefs.
Today is the beginning of an adventure. The decision to live a vitalized spiritual life is a significant step. God’s blessings on your journey.
• Today’s affirmation: “I will honestly and fearlessly assess and evaluate who I am.”
• Write some notes in your journal about where you think you are and where you would like to be. How far do you need to go? What kind of steps do you need to make to reach your goal? Don’t judge yourself too harshly. Where are the gaps in your spiritual journey? Consider the following:
Self-image + Service vs Sacrifice + Worry vs Trust + Guilt vs Forgiveness + Fear vs Confidence + Overwhelmed vs Relaxed + Motivated vs Depressed + Conflict vs Peace
• Think about your relationships: With Christ, with your significant other, your friends, your family, your co-workers, fellow students, and other significant relationships in your life.
• Consider where you are and where you would like to be financially.
Now be sure to pause throughout the day to breathe deeply and imagine the Spirit of the living God moving in and through your life. God wants you to become a more vitalized present person.
Read these words of Jesus: “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
