Guided Spiritual Life Coaching Week #5 Day #2

Guided Spiritual Life Coaching Week #5 Day #2

Do you ever find yourself blaming others for problems you are going through? Do you feel misunderstood, angry, bitter, and under appreciated? If this is the case, I have to ask you, why do you allow yourself to be a victim? That’s right – you are allowing this to take place rather than taking action and moving to a new level in the relationships and life. Today is about positive spiritual life control. The only true victims are those innocents who are attacked by someone with superior force that have no chance to flee.

Don’t allow yourself to be victimized. You have a choice to take steps to go beyond victimization. You can choose meaning in the midst of the dilemma.  Imagine a situation where you have been treated badly and unjustly. Ask yourself these questions:

• If I am to learn something from this situation, what is it?

• Why am I allowing this person (or persons) to treat me badly, and why do I feel the victim?

• How can I change my perception or my situation?

• Do I need to stand up to this person? Do I need to leave this situation? Do I need to engage with the circumstances of this situation and point out the injustice to others?

It is an act of spiritual courage and faith to choose the kind of life you will lead. I’m not suggesting just parts of your life but all of your life. You are given great power by God to live your life guided by the Spirit. As Christ-followers you develop a relationship with the humanity of Jesus, who engages the powers that would have made him a victim and instead he becomes victorious. He teaches us to live in the same way.

Repeat this today:

I own my past – every experience, judgment, comparison, and hesitation. I choose to learn from these and take charge of my life, not as a victim but as a victor.

Read this scripture:

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Even when you feel strongly that you did not choose to experience a certain injustice, that you were an innocent victim of the circumstances, do not relinquish control. Be empowered and be the spiritual victor over your perceived setbacks or roadblocks.

Be Well…
