Spiritual Life Coaching – Mission
Lots of people have asked me over the years how they can find their purpose for their life or what their mission is in life. It isn’t all that difficult if you take the focus from yourself and put others as the focus of your attention. I’ve taken hundreds of youth on Mission Trips and they all come back with an awareness that mission is not about them. That is the big discovery for teens. It’s hard for that understanding to last because we constantly work against our broken nature that is selfish. There is a passage in the bible that gives a stark view of people from ancient times that hasn’t changed much: “For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,” (2 Timothy 3:2-4). In oder to find your mission look outside of yourself first. God has a way of putting mission in your path if you are alert enough to see it.
