Liberty is not license to do whatever you want. Liberty is not the ability to discriminate and hate – except to hate what is evil. As Americans we celebrate Independence Day on the 4th of July and while we celebrate let’s also give thanks for a positive “dependence” on God for guiding and correcting us. I don’t expect the world to do what we do. We do not exist to be nation builders but we are at our best when we are a light to the nations. Freedom to love, serve, and to protect the oppressed. We salute our men and women in uniform at home and abroad and appreciate our liberty built on laws that derive their very nature from God. We welcome the stranger inside our boarders and we ask them to love liberty like we all do. We want to make our nation better by taking individual responsibility and realizing that we are not free to do whatever we please but to do what is moral right and promotes liberty not license. Be responsible this holiday weekend and celebrate our freedoms.
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances. It was adopted on December 15, 1791, as one of the ten amendments that constitute the Bill of Rights. So we as we express faith freely and openly let’s give thanks and value what we have and what men and women across the ages have fought to protect. We pray that God would continue to bless America – land of the free and home of the brave.
The Bible says, in 2 Corinthians 3:17, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” Amen!
