Spiritual Life Coaching – Negative

Spiritual Life Coaching – Negative

I just got off the phone with someone who saw everything in their life in negative terms. No matter what I said – no matter how I tried to help them reframe and gain some perspective – no matter what I showed them about their perception they were in a fight or flight mindset. Overcoming negativity is not easy. You begin to paint your world and people in it with negative overtones and you drive even your friends away. I can say to them thankfulness and gratefulness drives out negative feelings and they will deny that it is possible for them. People are in charge of their emotions but many of those emotions are deeply ingrained in their personality. It takes something outside of us to change the way we see things. That is the power of the Word. Consider this passage: “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to all people. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13) We need to tap into the mindset and power of the Creator who can change the direction of your life. We live from a new sense of the positive power of God rather than the negative power of our past.

Be Well…
