True greatness comes with great love. We have put love into multiple categories. We’ve included cars, books, homes, vacations along with kids, intimate friends, spouses, and God. Jesus had the idea that love was something great – reserved for the most intimate of relationships. Love was not about what we receive but what we give. Where a person lays down their life they make an offering of that life. It is truly altruistic, that is, it is given without the expectation of something in return. God loved us even when we rejected God’s Son. Is this too much?
It seems that Jesus not only sets an example to follow but does what he asks of his followers. His authority is found in the love he is showing to everyone – everyone. That doesn’t mean he was weak and ineffective – he was strong and powerful. It took strength to lay down his life. Greatness is the passionate love you show in your life. Love and
