So many of us expect the harvest without planting. It’s like trying to win the lottery without buying a ticket (don’t do that – the odds are 1 in 292,201,338 or something close to that). Consider this. Everything begins with planting a seed. It takes faith. If we have a need we should plant the seed in faith. What we plant, in life or in a garden, we will harvest. We do not plant alone as Christ-followers; we are planting with others by faith and there is a greater harvest when we all are willing to plant. We will harvest in a different season than when we plant so be patient and don’t give up. God’s design is that you will always harvest more than you plant – it is the abundance principle. The more seeds we plant the more God will give us. We always need to sow in faith not by feelings.
Those of you who have gardens or who are farmers know these truths naturally. These same principles apply to your stewardship and your generosity with your life. Use them in your community of faith, in your generosity, and every aspect of your life. 2 Corinthians 9:10 puts it this way, “For God, who supplies seed to the farmer and bread to eat, will give you more and more seed to plant and will make it grow so that you can give away more and more fruit from your harvest.”
Can you think of a reason not to give your best and not to plant seeds of faith and generosity? Don’t lose heart – plant seeds of faith and expect that the Lord of the harvest will bless you through your faith.
