In this Dare to Dream series we’ve been looking at various aspects of dreaming God sized dreams and this week I’ve focused on making the commitment to enter in to the arena and offer yourself to God. Today let’s consider this: To develop my potential…I must learn from others so I can grow. The scripture I’d like you to consider is this: “Christ’s Body is fitted together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow . . .” Ephesians 4:16 (NLT) We grow from working together as a body.
I watched a little boy sitting by his dad the other day. He was imitating each and every move of his dad without the dad even noticing. It was cute but more than that it demonstrated to me how influential parents are in shaping the outcome of their children by imprinting behaviors, words, and actions. Likewise when we as Church come to the realization that our behaviors have an imprinting effect on those who participate we begin to think more genuinely about the consequences of our actions. Do we serve ourselves or do we serve others.
Going it alone may seem maverick and macho but it is not a great way to learn and we will seldom reach our potential. Don’t try to do a solo with your life. You have special work to do but it is often the best work when you learn from and with others.
