Part of our continued growth comes as we understand that the Word is active and moving and alive. It is not just words in a dust old book. God is continually opening the Word to us through the power of the Spirit God’s part is that God is continually teaching, our part is that we are willing to learn. Jesus put it this way, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth.” (John 16:13a)
There is an old saying that goes, you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. God is leading and teaching all the time but are we willing to learn from God? What happens when we get stuck in elementary thinking? We don’t grow in our understanding or our relationship. Again we look to the Word for guidance, “Solid food is for those who are mature, who have trained themselves to recognize the difference between right and wrong and then do what is right.” (Hebrews 5:14) Are we going to live on baby food all our life. That will not lead to maturity nor will it help us to achieve the dreams that God has for us. In order to dream God sized dreams we need to continue to learn – willingly.
