Spiritual Life Coaching – Stones in the Road
One of Sue’s friends gave her a dish full of stones at the service for prayer and healing that have now become helpful to me dealing with the process of grief. I talked to my daughter last night and she was feeling the loss most poignantly – she wanted to enjoy the journey of childbirth with her mother. After I texted with her I went to these stones and looked through them once again.
1 Timothy 4:17 “But the Lord stood with me and gave me strength.”
Another simply said, “Inspiration”
Psalm 56:3 “When I am afraid I will put my trust in you.”
Proverbs 17:17 “A friend loves at all times.”
Still another, “Courage”
I share this because the simplest of gifts from Missy has become a profound help to motivate me. I will never really be able to be the rock for Becca that she needs but I realize that God will be.
Mary Chapin Carpenter wrote a song called “Stones in the Road,” and a verse that goes:
Stones in the road
Leave a mark from whence they came
A thousand points of light or shame
Baby, I don’t know
Life is a mystery but like St Paul said, “Faith, hope, and love remain – the greatest is love.” So we live and love as best we can for as long as we can – we leave a mark from whence we came.
