Spiritual Life Coaching – Tick Tock
Advent is often the waiting season – waiting for Jesus coming into the world – waiting for Jesus return – but then so is Lent. We groan with our personal and communal failures in life and we think, “Why was I born? Why did I deserve this? When will the hurst stop? Where are you God?” We groan and complain in real wilderness style looking for a Moses to complain to about our conditions. We wait and wait – hoping and praying for something to change. Lent reminds us of the burden we would carry if it were not for Jesus and the work he did on our behalf.
Text message notice goes off. “Could you take care of the dog this morning? He goes out around 8:00AM.”
“Why?” I ask, Aren’t you home….”
Oh, I just realized she is texting because she is having the baby. “Yes, Yes! I’ll take care of the dog…oh my – it’s really happening.” Life. In the midst of the sorrow of the past weeks comes this bright little light into the world. Another child that Jesus walked the long road to Calvary for.
“Be glad; rejoice forever in my creation!” (Isaiah 65:18)
God is doing something new again. The road of Lent winds through the wilderness to a garden where a stone was rolled aside, the flowers bloom, and fear turns to joy.
