New Year Revolution
How about instead of resolutions we have a revolution? Yes, let’s have a revolution of kindness, consideration, understanding, and compassion. There has been too much hate, mistrust, vile language, and self-absorption in 2017. We are better people than that. If the Golden Rule were to be adopted by both the religious and irreligious alike we would have an ethical language to speak: “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.” It means we “walk in another moccasins” as the Native American proverb goes.
I’ve heard too many angry words exchanged in 2017. Our leaders, “stars,” and so-called icons have tweeted too many hate filled words and people read them retweet them. It’s time we stop claiming to be civilized unless we learn to be civil. Leaders have a special duty to actually lead. This will take a revolution of the will for the silent majority (if there is such a thing) to rise up and speak out finally. Say to the powers of hate, violence, bigotry, and idolatry-of-self to STOP. We can be a better nation and have a better world.
